Every Best Horse product is made to order, so choosing the right size matters. Use this guide, and if you're between sizes or unsure, send us your horse's measurements before ordering and we'll recommend the best fit.
Saddle pads and matchy sets
| Size | Saddle pad size | Typical horse height |
|---|---|---|
| Shetland | Ask us for measurements | Up to approx. 10.2hh |
| Pony | 54 x 52 cm | Approx. 12hh to 14.2hh |
| Cob | 56 x 54 cm | Approx. 14.2hh to 15.2hh |
| Full | 58 x 58 cm | Approx. 15.2hh and over |
Horse heights are a general guide only. Your saddle size matters most: the pad should extend a little beyond your saddle on all sides.
Fly veils and ear bonnets
Fly veils follow the same sizes as our saddle pads (Shetland, Pony, Cob, Full). Choose the size of your horse's bridle.
Brushing boots and bell boots
Boot sizes follow your horse's size (Pony, Cob, Full). A size chart is included in the photos on each boot listing.
Bits
- Place a piece of string in your horse's mouth where the bit sits.
- Mark both sides at the corners of the lips.
- Measure between the marks. That's your bit size.
Or measure your current bit along the mouthpiece, between the rings or cheeks. Between sizes? Choose the larger one so the lips aren't pinched.
Stirrups
For safety, your stirrup should be about 1 inch (2.5 cm) wider than the widest part of your riding boot, leaving roughly half an inch on each side.
